The webinar will introduce current ESS and inverter development and latest safety requirements as well as certification and listings in North America (USA/Canada). It explains upcoming changes on grid connection requirements. It gives an overview on of ESS from system to components level. The most common and problematic compliance issues encountered by manufacturers, along with resolution and mitigation strategies are discussed. It makes a better understanding of what to look for when evaluating electrical compliance for both safety and grid connectivity products or projects.

Dr. Howard Liu is responsible for the power electronics program for TUV Rheinland in Americas. He has been active in power and renewable energy compliance business since 2009. He is a technical and subject matter expert for power electronics including but not limited to ESS, EVSE, inverters and related components, frequency converters, motor drives, generators, machinery, etc. to US, Canadian, European and global standards. He leads business strategy and innovation, researched new standards and technologies in power and other areas and provided regional and global technical support and guidance. Howard works in different code and standard committees like NEC code panel, UL STP, IEEE, etc. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Tennessee in the US.
