Under the guidance of the national dual-carbon policy and driven by the vision of Digital China, “greening” and “smartisation” transformations have become important compasses for the construction industry to break through bottlenecks and achieve industrial transformation. As a crucial area for tapping into building energy-saving potential, building cooling centres have seen numerous design standards and high-performance cooling centre evaluation metrics and systems introduced in recent years, both in civil and industrial sectors. On top of achieving cost reduction and efficiency improvements, high-efficiency cooling centres integrate smart technologies to further enhance aspects such as safety, durability, user-friendliness, and data quality, ensuring sustainable operations.
Adhering to the basic concept of infusing smart living into application scenarios, TÜV Rheinland and the BRE have introduced an evaluation standard for the smartification of typical application scenarios like high-efficiency cooling centres within the BESTi certification assessment system for smart buildings – “Appendix A: Smart and Efficient Cooling Centre Evaluation Criteria”. 1) The evaluation targets electric refrigeration water-cooled centralised air conditioning cooling centres and central chilled water stations. The scope includes various new and existing upgraded cooling centres and central chilled water stations in civil and industrial buildings. Through document review, on-site audit, on-site data verification, and post-certification continuous supervisory audits, a dual-dimensional evaluation of high-efficiency cooling centres is conducted with respect to their basic performance, safety and durability, user-friendliness and convenience, and data health and preservation.
Notes: 1) The BESTi Smart and Efficient Cooling Centre Evaluation Standard Pioneer Edition came into official use on 1 April 2024.
